Hey there everyone! I'm Alice. I am new. Okay, here are a few things to know about me:
- You do not have to call me Alice. I go by many things for many reasons. Quite often, someone will say something like "You remind me of a Meredith" and therefore I am a Meredith to that person and those who are in on the little joke. So, if you would like to rename me, go for it. I actually only have the Alice name because some people do not want to have to have he responsibility to name me and wish for me to do hat myself, so if you want, I can just be Alice. Or Meredith. Or Kat. Or whatever.
- I am a role player.
[/b] I have been role playing like this since I was seven. I started table top role playing like Dungeons and Dragons when I was at the most five. I am sixteen now making this nine years of written role play for me. I am literate with a mother who mastered in English in college and is a librarian, so that pretty much speaks for itself. [/li][li] I am an award winning and published author.[/b] No, I am not lying. No, I won't give you specifics so you can see for yourself. Here's what you can know. I have been writing since I was in first grade. In the fifth grade, I won first place in a writing contest with my newspaper. In sixth grade, I won many small contests for my writing. In eighth grade, some of my works were published in a book. [/li][li] I am not the happiest of the happiest right now.[/b] I live in a military town where everyone comes and goes throughout the years. My family has nothing to do with the military, so we are stationary. I have had literally all of my friends move away. By the time I was in fourth grade, I stopped looking to be friends with people in fear that they would leave. In sixth grade, I met my best friend who left at the end of eighth grade. I have kept contact and have seen my friend twice since then, but it was still the breaking point. This is when we realized I have some abandonment issues. Yay. If I seem depressed or upset, this is probably why. [/li][li] I have night terrors.[/b] These are nightmares that are more than just some monster running after you. These are about real things that honestly frighten me. I cannot sleep because of them and it has gotten worse in the passed two years. I may seem very lax and tired at times. Sorry. [/li][li] I do coding and graphics. My photobucket lostxxchildren has lots of my stuff on there sporadically. If you are interesting in seeing some of my stuff, just mention it and I'll show you. I can help with all sorts of coding.[/li][/ul] Alright, there are actually good things about me, but I feel that you should always know some important things about a person before you can truly do anything effectively with the person or even understand the person. I promise, I'm not overly depressed or self involved all the time, I just believe you should know the important things ahead of time.[/size][/blockquote]

It's nice to have you on the forums. You’ve been role playing even/way longer than I have. I started out when I was ten years old, regular play by post style. I’ve never done the Dungeons and Dragons board game before though; I’ve only played the online version. I hear it’s pretty different. What kinds of role plays do you like? Getting published and awards are pretty cool too. My friend won an award for a short script she wrote and it was published in a book as well. I went to the ceremony type thing with her and it was very good; many of the works were reenacted on stage. The people receiving awards were very talented. What kind of pieces have you been noticed for, or like to write? I am sorry to here about your home situation and night terrors. If you ever want to talk about it on the forum, feel free. I don’t know everything your going through, but if you ever need to let anything out or talk to anyone, that’s no problem. I know that things can get really hard sometimes, where “hard” is even an understatement and sometimes it just helps to talk. I speak for myself and future members when I say if there is ever an issue, no one has a problem with it here. I was looking at some of the graphics on your photobucket. Some of them are really good. Did you make the "Raining Love" one?

I have been role playing a long time. A very long time. It makes me feel old sometimes. xD It is different, but it is very similar that you play off each other. So many times in the online role playing does one person really control the role play. Have you noticed that before? Kinds of role play? It depends on the day. I used to love fantasy like crazy, but now I am very interested in barely supernatural. Like normal with a hint of supernatural.
It is pretty cool. I like to throw it in front of people so that they know that I am not your average run of the mill chick who likes to write some words and throw them together. It help when role playing so that they know what they are getting into, or at least sort of. I have been noticed for a short story in fifth grade, and if you want to read it I can get it (only 600 words) and several pieces of poetry that I have as well, though I worn you, they all suck since I realized I needed to grow up and now they sound, to me, like a small child wrote them. I usually write whatever comes to me, though lately I have been writing poetry and throwing them all together in my compilation I think I shall call A Date With Dream.
Yeah, it sucks but I will make it. I just wanted everyone to know just in case I start getting... moody. Like all this week I was GRUMPY and MEAN and I feel really bad now about it. But thank you for saying that.
Oh no, I do not do those kinds of things. All the banners, and layout stuff is mine. I have random things in there that I have done. Actually living examples of stuff: here, here, and here. The second here of course is meant to be ridiculous. This banner was for a forum, and many others were made. I promise there are good things in that photobucket somewhere.

Haha, I know what you mean. xP
That's very true. Especially if one person has a character with a lot of background history. It's not a bad thing, but a lot of that history does seem to make its way into the role play, with mini-plots and such. And that's interesting. So, say "normal" characters in a world where a random sky pirate may flit about (or insert-whatever-fantastical-thing here) but it's not really what the plot is about?
Yeah. It really stands out. If it's no trouble for you, I would love to read them. And writing is a learning process too. I feel the same way about my older poems as well. It's almost painful for me to read some of my older stuff, but it's nice seeing how far I've come.
Understandable. No prob.
Those are really good. I know you're new and stuff, but if you're ever interested, you're more than welcome to play around with some skins on here. As I'm sure you've probably noticed, I'm only so-so at making them.

Something like that. Background history is very important to me personally. I don't believe anyone can understand a character without knowing the history which is why my histories in bios often look like this. But all of the important things, or snippets, are usually in the history bio. Like, have you read the Scorpio Races? I can't remember who wrote it. It is about normal human beings who do these horse races on a normal human island except that there are these horses from the sea, the supernatural creatures and the one element, that live on the coast and are used for the races.
A Date With Dream us the site I made yesterday that is going to hold all of the poetry that I write during this... depression of mine. I can put up other things in the art, writing, etc. section that we have here. I can add stories and such. I've spent all this time writing for me and no one ever reads them. I think it is time someone does.
Oh that's okay, I suck with skins mostly cuz I hate having to find a background. The Waking Dreams has a Christmas and a Thanksgiving skin as well that took me a while to make. The Armadillomoles one was supposed to be ridiculous in many ways. If you would like me to make skins and coding and stuff I can.

Absolutely. Bios like that actually make me excited, because I like reading exactly who the character is and people are very interesting in general, so being able to read about even fictional experiences intrigues me. I personally do not writing ones like that anymore, though I used to. I had a difficult time kind of summing up who my character was before I really even made them three-dimensional. I find that even in my role plays, it takes me a while to understand them and really who they are. So my bios are really basic and then the character develops and I can see who they are over the course of the role play. Ah, I get what you mean. That’s cool. They’re very good; very expressive, while at the same time, a lot engage the mind as well as my sense of emotions. I especially like “There are Four Walls” and “Do You Want to Play?” is very attention grabbing and intriguing as well. I’m still reading through them. You have a lot of talent. Ah, okay, haha. That’s cool, though. I was only offering in case you liked doing them. I have another site on the proboards, where I’m getting more and more used to making the backgrounds. So I figure I’ll be making some nicer ones in the future. Probably over the course of this week, because lately I’ve had more time on the weekdays.

I totally get what you mean. I am the same way with not knowing my characters completely, but that is why I make such huge bios. I make them so developed so that I can develop the character then. That is why I do the history last. The bio I just showed you actually was one of those where I did not know my character before I made the bio itself. When I finally got to the history, I knew what she was like and I could do it then. Then making the history also develops my characters. But that is my personal process lately. Not that I role play too much lately.
I used to write a very big variety of things, but I sort of have narrowed it down a lot lately with my lack of want to do anything. Lately, all of my writing is mostly playing with emotions and trying to get people to really feel things. I actually have pretty interesting back stories to both of them. Those seem to be everyone's favorites. "There are Four Walls" is my very symbolic one of how I was feeling just this passed week and "Do You Want to Play?" was my dramatization of how Dream, my characterization of she who controls dreams in general, and I get along. I make everything characterized. My computer's name is Sebastian. He is stubborn and testy, and only likes to work for me; he is very particular. My phone is Horatio; he is a jerk who doesn't like being told what to do; he's hard to work with unless you have a lot of patience. Dream is a major character in my brain. My brain works in stories.
Oh, I love making things. Photoshop is one of my favorite passed times because I can actually control it. I just for no reason remade the Waking Dreams banner. I enjoy it very much. I also love getting the coding together because it organizes sites and makes them look prettier. It also makes people happier by default I think, which is always nice (:

Yeah. That's cool how you can do that. I would always feel bad because I'd make a huge bio, and then I would realize a few pages into the role play that I wasn't keeping it. I wouldn't say that my characters dictate what I write about them, but they do dictate their personalities.
Well, you're definitely doing well as far as getting people to really feel what you write. I had figured that both had to have some sort back story. I really liked how you can tell that "There are Four Walls" is based off of experience, but also that it has a deeper quality that is absent from a lot of poetry today. While I was reading it, the back of my mind was kind of whirring to life and beginning to analyze it, but I said "no." I like that, just because today, it's very unique. A lot of poems are just narrative and have little in them that indicates any symbolism or whatnot. But this combined both and I enjoyed it quite a bit. That's interesting about "Do You Want to Play?" On a side note, I actually have a good friend who does the exact same thing with her items as well.
I know what you mean. I’m into art and I do the exact same thing with photos and stuff on Lightroom, and regular paintings whenever.

That makes sense. My two favourite characters still don't have actual bios because they developed and everything I did was wrong for them and I need to redo it. It has been... MANY years since then too. One day, the brothers will have real bios.
Thank goodness, that is what I wanted. Well, I am glad that my poetry possesses good qualities. Dream is a reoccurring "bad guy" in my head. It is very interesting. Oh that's cool. I don't know a lot of people who do that. Actually, I just know me.
That's cool. I'm not very artsy strangely enough.

Haha, I know that feeling all too well. Maybe, someday, all of my characters will have real bios. It sounds interesting, though frustrating, I would imagine. Yeah, she does it too. I think her phone is named "Lorenzo" or something, and he is a big jerk.

One day there will be real bios in the world! xD
Yes, very frustrating. I think phones in general must be jerks. Or maybe just the ones with very interesting, not so common names.

Real bios? What is this fairytale?
I think it's a technology thing. There's something that elicits a general frustration and incredible need to throw them out of very high windows programmed into them.

It's a joke between some of my role playing buddies. We all go around saying that we all need real bios.
The darn technology just needs to be defenestrated sometimes.

Indeed. Complete with pictures of random scene kids and Alex Starr and such. Otherwise it just isn't legit. Yes. Yes, it does.

Exactly! You have your perfect bio with your perfect playby. If you didn't look absolutely perfect and gorgeous, why would you even be a character? xDD
That's a beautiful picture.
